The dark cross suddenly revealed inscribed in shadow by the Sun along the way to Hawthornden Castle

There are some good links below. My reflected images don’t get many views, here they are though. Some pictures I take I see the reflection opening up the scene. Here the dark cross caught my eye and the potential to extend the original image from a landscape orientation and then from a portrait orientation fired my mind and then, and then someone rose from their lower perspective photography and stood in my scene. Suddenly I was woken from my image making dream. They were a great photography companion and the only reason that I was there and out and about with a camera. No shade on them for elevate themselves from a close-up photography Yoga pose focused on a flower I believe. They can puncture my composed dream frames anytime, also in any place and in all space and none, even if their puncture power means the dream scene has gone.*

The Sun will shine and cast shadows and in inspecting them we can tell the time. We can see line and with a care we can watch the minutes and hours pass as the line moves. If we wish we can look at light as the generative creator of life and we can see shadow as an opposition a place that will not respond to the clarion call of the Sun. Shadow and shade bring about their own distinct wonders and Shadow is created and directed in constant movement by light of varying intensity. We humans have considered good and bad omens from the force of the Sun and from the reaction of shade, shadow and subterranean sunless places as well as the phase of the Moon displaying reflected radiance of the Sun and at times the Moon shrouds the Sun in eclipse of amazing exactness gifting sight of the edge the immediate crown of the star that illuminates us and leaves us to the further distant view of the other stars and planets by night. All this to say Sun and Shadow, direct light and reflection and refraction all the time in world seemingly making and recreating signs and symbols that we divine as the language of light and the symphony of dark. Light is light and lack of light is either less, or even total darkness with no need to try to read the light and to listen to the dark. After this mention of omen and even prediction everything below this is information about the absolutely stunning location.

Hawthornden Castle stands atop several layers of caves that have been extended into amazing chambers visited by many famous people on their Scottish tours. The castle is one of three close together all taking advantage of the steep escarpment that offers natural rock protection above the North Esk river flowing swiftly below. Roslin Glen is home to Rosslyn Castle and many believe the Holy Grail resides here too, there are wonderful legends and fantastic natural formations throughout the glen, plenty enough to enjoy even beyond the quest for the Holy Grail.

Linked below are Hawthornden Castle, near Edinburgh by Alexander Nasmyth from the Google Art Project and both Roslin Glen cared for by Rosslyn Chapel Trust, as well as Roslin Glen Country Park and also Wallace’s Cave, the other cave and prehistoric rock carvings.

Dirleton Castle Here Be Dragons

“Here be dragons” means dangerous or unexplored territories, in imitation of a medieval practice of putting illustrations of dragons, sea monsters and other mythological creatures on uncharted areas of maps where potential dangers were thought to exist.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Here_be_dragons

It may be that Medieval Map Makers wrote, “Here be dragons,” to indicate untold dangers and to warn away some exploration, or at least ask any such explorers to bring back a few line illustrations to update maps, charts and guides. When I say Dirleton Castle Here Be Dragons, I mean Dirleton Castle Here Be Dragons. The Dragon was posing for pictures and stating that Photoshop was allowed to bring out his armoured scale magnificence and to sparkle the light of gentle soft slightly flaming snores illuminating sleepily tinkling pillowed to perfection golden hoards of the past, the present and those yet to come within his eyes.

I saw the Dragon Eggs hatch and fly away for Winter and it is possible that the Dragon, as pictured here, may have flown away til Spring 2023. Please do ask if you are looking to see either The Dragon, as pictured here, or The Nest, either with, or without The Eggs. The Dragon, The Nest, The Eggs and The Man at Arms Presentations are all worth a visit for and along with them there is a Castle and Grounds that are superb.

For updates on The Dragon, The Nest, The Eggs and The Man at Arms Presentations and for artistic recreations of Castles and Historic Scenes I follow their creator on Twitter.

I only add as it gives me a way to help work with the use as linked above.

I will gladly grant copyright for none profit use of my work and I am not trying to make any profit from these images.

One Dragon and one picture lead to edits and inclusions with different arrows running through the numbers and letters of 70 Miles and then text inserted into an empty cartouche, “Lairs of Dragons open for visitors,” not to forget the two large above and below titles of, “Dirleton Castle,” at the top and, “Here Be Dragons,” at the foot. I have been consumed by Dragon, Maps and Text til I was nothing except Dragon edits. I have not configured every version of Dragon, Maps and Text possible and some of the completed designs have not made it to Flickr, YouTube and Blogger. Now I have to recover from Dragon consumption and find another focus once I am recovered. I have footage of a Knight in armour firing his cannon from a crenelated tower, the boom, boom is not yet filling the room, but like Mr. Toad I have heard the Thunder of the Future and in a Retrace Lightening Pathway I am accelerating aspects of The Past towards Fixations Of The fHuture*.

*FOTH - Fixations Of The fHuture are thoughts that flutter like moths til instead of them flying towards a source of illumination they have the light seek the person experiencing FOTH is the source of their illumination and the light travels towards the, at first small not too distant, FOTH and the intense focus of the person generates a metamorphosis to the friendly FOTH that expands and transmutes til is comfort blanket and furnace of inspiration with keys to unlock engaging experiences galore.

1347 Gatehouse Dirleton Castle 2010 rereleased 2019

Please forgive the 1347 hour and minute as opposed to the year if you can? This was intended as short fun film.  Dirleton Castle is well worth a visit and the history in and around the site is superb.

“1347 Gatehouse Dirleton Castle,” was filmed in and first released in 2010 now it is rereleased 2019. It was released on my individual YouTube Channel which was called 111Aleph after me. That Channel has not been available for sometime.

This film is also not what I was looking for right now. So I will still continue searching. Hopefully there will be more releases from 111Aleph soon and will find what I am looking for.

IAO in the vaults 2010 rereleased 2019

The Gnostics have a way with words, with letters, with languages through the ages, with images, with sound and design all well set to create an impression of the divine.

“IAO in the vaults,” was filmed in and first released in 2010 now it is rereleased 2019. We expect tens of people to flock to see this online film. “IAO in the vaults,” was originally on Pucks Portal which at this moment exists only in fragments.

This film is not what I was looking for. I will continue searching. Hopefully there will be more from Pucks Portal soon.

Roslyn Chapel Valentine's Post Cards

This is the framed set of Valentines cards used to advertise the cards for sale at Rosslyn Chapel.  The photographs of them were taken in 2009.  Although the originals may have been strictly monochrome I have colour processed these images to better show their current state of preservation and to illustrate the beautiful shades that time has brought to these printed works.  I do not own the original postcards nor do I claim to own the copyright of them.  My copyright notice is issued here in relation to the images taken by me.  It is worth noting that the cards issue the name of the chapel as Roslyn, today it goes by the name Rosslyn and the village close by is Roslin.  Time and tradition can be generous in giving us place names to ponder over.

Valentine’s of Dundee produced Scottish topographical views from the 1860s.
The Valentine business had been based on engraving and printing.  In 1851 James Valentine added portrait photography to the Dundee business.  Valentine used a converted barouche as a mobile darkroom.  Valentine’s views in the nineteenth century covered locations opened up to the middle and upper class tourist market.  It was possible to buy drawing room albums containing selections of photographs arranged geographically and also to have individual larger prints. The prints were available in a choice of sizes, Cabinet, Imperial and Card.  Stereoscopic views were also produced and sold in boxed editions to accompany the stereoscopic viewers.  Locations were chosen throughout Scotland and from 1882 English sites were included.  By 1900 Valentine’s images covered resorts beyond the United Kingdom including Norway, Jamaica, Tangiers, Morocco, Madeira and New Zealand.
