Enchanted Forest Faskally Wood Pitlochry

We boarded the very last bus to leave Pitlochry for the Enchanted Wood light and sound show at Faskally Wood.  The rain came down but it could not prevent the walk around the woods from being truly magical.  The effect of lights and sounds in the dark woods was quite fantastic.  The only disappointment is that we have to wait til 2011 to do it all again.

The whole Enchanted Wood experience is superb.  The atmosphere builds as you wait in the Fisher Hotel for your allotted time of departure.  A short coach journey includes an audio introduction to the Faskally Wood.  Once there you are allowed to wander at will on the illuminated paths that lead to several vantage points at which light and sound shows can be enjoyed.  The fantastic animal noises and the stunning lights are an absolute thrill to the senses. We went round twice to fully appreciate the dramatic display.

Do be aware that you need tickets and places are limited so do book ahead.  The weather could not put us off and it did not stop the show that night.  It is billed as Scotland’s largest sound and light show and it is a big display but somehow in the dark it creates several small enclaves.  The little pools of light and sound around small natural features are as captivating as the large areas that include fountains and flames with gigantic lights roaming across the natural stages that have been set out in Faskally Wood.  It is a modern fairytale tour taking in the gentle calm scenes of woodland groves and travelling to action filled volcanic landscapes.  Along your way you may encounter fairy realms and giant’s homes.  There is so much here to spark your imagination into a fantasy fuelled extravaganza lit with stunning colour and filled with amazing sounds.
