Blue is the colour - Edinburgh Festival Fringe Fancies 2010

The blue man so prominently crowning the apex of the fringe archway over the Royal Mile may have other origins, but I like think of the nimble minx as one of the Na Fir Ghorm the fabled Blue Men of the Minch.  The Blue Men are sometimes said to be friended by Na Tè Ghorm, hai Glaukai the Blue Women who are less seen, but both are noted for their amorous interactions with humans.  The link to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe might be the strong independent spirit, or warrior traits of the Blue Folk said to be seen in their human descendents.  The one way to save your boat from being wrecked by the Blue Folk would be to enter into a traditional rhyming banter with them.  This rhyming banter could have evolved into the festival blather that now soothes away any cobble stoned aggravations as you daunder over the Royal Mile.  So maybe the Blue Folk of the Na h-Eileinean Charmed Isles of the Hebrides are walking among us now?
